Leading Light of Sagaing District
Sagaing University was officially established on March 9, 2012, and opened its doors to students from Sagaing Township, Myinmu Township, and Myaung Township. Starting with over 900 students in ten subjects, we have grown to offer 13 specialization subjects across Arts and Science disciplines.
Our lush green campus spans more than 300 acres, providing an ideal environment for learning, research, and personal development. With modern facilities including 12 academic buildings, administrative offices, a library, gymnasium, and student dormitories, we support our students in achieving their academic aspirations.
Beyond traditional classroom education, we actively engage in community service, research initiatives, and cultural preservation, making significant contributions to the region's educational and social development.

University History
Sagaing University was initiated on February 11, 2012 by the President, Vice President and Heads of State, and the official permission was issued on March 9, 2012. It was opened for the students from Sagaing Township, Myinmu Township and Myaung Township in Sagaing District to pursue their higher education.
On December 5, 2012, Sagaing University started to run the first-year course with over 900 students majoring in ten subjects - Myanmar, Geography, History, Philosophy, Oriental Studies, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany for Arts and Science degrees.
In the 2015-2016 academic year, Sagaing University offered Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science for 954 graduates. At the present time, Sagaing University runs further specialization subjects such as English, Geology and Environmental Studies, totaling 13 specialization subjects and offers Master of Arts and Master of Science.
Since 2024, Sagaing University has also awarded degrees to distance learning students studying at Sagaing University. Up to 2024-2025 academic year, Sagaing University has produced a total of (4683) graduates with Bachelor's degrees, honours degrees, Master's degrees.
